Management is the process of achieving goals by working through and with people efficiently
and effectively. It helps coordinate human, financial, and physical resources to meet
organizational objectives.

●​ Efficiency: Doing things in the best possible way with minimal resources or time (e.g.,
reducing waste).​

●​ Effectiveness: Doing the right tasks to achieve desired outcomes (e.g., meeting
company targets).​


Management is essential in all types of organizations—businesses, schools, hospitals, NGOs,
and governments.



Characteristics of Management:​
Management is:

●​ Goal-oriented: Everything in management focuses on achieving specific objectives.​

●​ Universal: Applicable across all sectors and industries.​

●​ Integrative: Brings together people, tasks, and resources.​

●​ Multidimensional: Involves work with people, operations, and decision-making.​

●​ Dynamic: Adapts to changing environments.​

●​ Continuous: An ongoing cycle of planning, executing, and reviewing.​




Functions of Management (POLC):​
Management involves four key functions:

1.​ Planning​

○​ Setting goals and deciding how to reach them.​
