1. How to navigate the needs and expectations of differing stakeholders: recognize and
strategize for a win-win every time.
In the United States, insurance and public health care access have proven year after year to
be a challenge. It’s a topic not easily broached as it chalked full of contention for a variety of
reasons. The list of reasons for contention are as long as they are broad, but the main points that
stand out include personal beliefs based on religion or political affiliations, and the diverse
economic implications. It is worth to note the United States health care system is unlike any
other in the world, due to its favor of for-profit private insurance companies. While there is some
federal funding, states also provide funding at an individual level for groups that are considered
vulnerable. The United States health care distribution is both composite and immense (Shi &
Singh, 2019). It is important to understand the complexities of health care in the United States
when navigating the needs and expectations of different stakeholders. Understanding of who key
stakeholders are, can help to ease some of the complexity. Stakeholders general consist of
patients, physicians, insurance companies, pharmaceutical firms, employers, and the government
(Tesch, & Levy, 2008). With knowledge of your stakeholders as well as needs and expectations,
it is easier to strategize for a win-win every time. “The relationship with the health care worker
and the patient is grounded in respect for trust and ethical principles” (Frezza, 2019). It cannot
be understated how crucial a commitment to honesty and trust is within the healthcare system. A
clear understanding of limitations to the system as well as the physicians own limitations can
help to foster an engaging relationship centered around honesty, patient autonomy, and a
continued building of trust (Frezza, 2019). There should also be disclosure of risks, as well as
errors should any occur. Above all transparency is key. All of these key pieces to the puzzle
