potential of taking over people’s jobs? Why do you think so?
I believe robots have the highest potential to take over people’s jobs. There are many reasons
on of which is robots will never be tired or lazy to work, Robots save workers from having to
perform dangerous tasks. They will work in unsafe environments including bad lighting,
hazardous substances or small spaces. They can lift heavy loads without causing injury or
fatigue. Robots increase the safety of workers by preventing accidents because humans do not
perform risky jobs. (RobotWorx, 2020, benefitsofrobotsarticle) Thus the productivity will
increase so the profits of organizations increase too. Moreover, they are more efficient than
people so fewer mistakes would be made which will lead to less complains. In addition to this,
robots were expensive years ago but now they are affordable comparing to the time and wages
they would save, so buyers believe robots defiantly worth it. Robots can work in several places
like restaurants to serve people’s food or even take orders, now already ATMS and tickets
replace counter staff, productions lines in factories are almost done without human’s aid and in
health care as doctors’ assistants too. I believe in the future robots will take over many jobs
especially those whom don’t make sophiscated tasks and those are less interactive with
humans.
Looking at the emerging technologies discussed in the report, which one do you believe has the
lowest potential of taking over people’s jobs? What are your reasons?
I think augmented reality has the least impact on taking over people’s jobs because it is
something more advanced to help people to be better at their work like the military example
The planners use Augmented Reality to train street patrol recruits and fight environments.
Supervisors may alter virtual circumstances and see how the soldiers react. This helps them to
"experience" a variety of circumstances from laboratory health. That allows them to manage the
real battlefields until they're sent to other nations. (Darrell M.West, 2015, pp2, 5:22)This
example proves augmented reality it helps without taking over someone’s job. Besides it is more
used in entertainment so it is something enjoyable to people that’s why it is successful.
How have some, or all of these emerging technologies impacted your life? These impacts can be
positive, negative or both.
Of course, some of them like tablets, mobile phones and ATMS impact our life daily, but they
have both bright and dark sides, let’s start with good one, the new emerging technologies
facilitated people’s tasks as we can now do it in little time effortlessly. They provide essential
services that we can’t get rid of like GPS which is a part from the artificial intelligence, the bank
machines that are everywhere whenever I needed money, I can withdraw from my bank
account and the game playing that we spend hours on to enjoy our time. The augmented reality
that we use 24/7 the apps, mobiles and tablets that help us to shop anytime, anywhere not only
this but also in studying. The biometrics like face recognition or fingerprints that we use to open
our phones daily which is invented to use our body parts for identification purposes. However,
