I learned a lot about the cost curve through the aspects of this course. I have grown personally
because now I know the significance of the economics of health. I also am able to apply what I
learned in my work place. There are several attributes that cause the supply curve in health care
to fluctuate and I will list three as following:
Technology: the supply of technological innovations causes the supply curve to fluctuate
because in regards to surgeries or any other type of procedures convenience is everything to
some people. Maybe someone cannot afford newer technology that is less invasive or less time
consuming. Also, the demand for this technology could cause an increase in price or the need for
physicians who know how to operate this technology.
Insurance: the accessiblity of insurance effects the supply curve because some people may not
be able to afford the treatment that is needed so health care providers may have to spend more
money on salaries versus the amount of incoming capital because of the lack of insurance or
affordability.
Changes in government policies and control: the government plays a huge role in the case of
laws, policies, and procedures in regards to the supply of health care. HIPPA is a well-known act
