My family immigrated to the United States when I was five-years-old with the dream of
achieving the American dream. While our respective cultures had a place in our hearts, we knew
that to be successful, we would have to learn a new language and immerse ourselves into the US
education system. As new immigrants, opportunities in the US were scarce, and my parents
could not support my educational journey financially. So, to make all this happen, I had to take
the financial burden of paying for college on myself. To do this, I took on various jobs alongside
my academics and settled into a set job that allowed me to have a steady income to support
myself throughout the year.
Given the burden of being a working student, taking part-time jobs, and attending college
full-time, having financial support for my tuition expenses would greatly lessen my anxiety and
allow me to invest time and energy into my studies and career. If granted a scholarship, I will
make sure to use it to maximum use and capitalize on this opportunity to further nurture my
existing skills and interest in computer science and engineering. Having a lot of experience with
coding and development, I am passionate about developing applications and software that have
