London Marathon

London Marathon an event which is an event taken place every year which is held in
London, England. It is said to be one of the world’s largest and most popular marathons
with over 53,700 finishers in 2024. This race’s distance is of 26.2 miles and normally
takes place around the time of April however a few years back it was held around
October due to Covid.

There are many reasons and purposes onto which the London Marathon exists, one
could be for charity fundraising. One of the primary reasons London Marathon is for it to
raise money for numerous charities. It claims that it has raised over £1.1 billion.
Another reason could be to promote fitness and health. The marathon tries to
encourage people to engage in physical activity as much as possible and promotes a
healthy lifestyle. It inspires lots of people to take into consideration running more.
Another purpose of the London marathon is for personal achievement. Many
participants feel that running the marathon is a personal achievement. It represents
months of training and dedication.

Some aims could be as stated before, charity fundraising, promoting health and fitness
etc. Another aim could be to be engaging community together. The event brings people
together making sure there is an inclusivity. It brings together diverse communities.
Some objectives of the event could be to increase participation. This means to
continually grow the number of participants including every runner and even those with
disabilities. Another objective could be to deliver a safe and enjoyable event. This
means to organise a well-attended and managed event that ensures the safety and
enjoyment of everyone there (participants, spectators, and volunteers etc). Another
objective could be to do with environmental sustainability. This is meant by to minimise
the environmental impact of the event through sustainable practices.

The aim and objectives of the London Marathon was achieved. One of the primaries
aims of the London Marathon is to raise funds for various charities. Since its inception,
the event has raised over £1.1 billion for numerous causes. Another one is community
engagement and inclusivity. The London Marathon brings together people from diverse
backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity. The event includes elite
athletes, amateur runners, and participants with disabilities, ensuring a wide

indicator. Personal achievements’ success could be measured by two things: the
runner’s satisfaction and the completion rates. Feedback from participants regarding
their experience, including personal achievements and the overall atmosphere, is a
vital measure. The other one the percentage of runners who complete the marathon
can indicate the event’s accessibility and support for participants.
