Scenario 1 – Your Britney’s friend
1. Describe the major differences between schoolyard bullying and cyberbullying.
The major difference between these two types of bullying is that schoolyard bullying
happens in person whereas cyber bullying happens online.
2. How would you respond to this act of cyberbullying?
I would first make sure that my friend is okay, tell her that the things people are saying
about her is not true. I would then try to contact the bully and tell her what she is doing
is not right and give her a change to take down the things she wrote and apologize to
Britney. If she disagrees then I would take further action to make sure she understands
the implications of her actions and to deter her from bullying another person again.
3. What are a few strategies to detect, monitor, and confront acts of cyberbullying
you can report pages, photos, on social media to have it taken down, you can also
report bullies accounts so they’re not able to continue bullying you. Other strategies
include telling people of higher authority (principal, etc) that this person is bullying you
so they can take charge as well. Also educational campaigns about the harms of bullying
in schools.

I believe that empathy, communication, and collaboration are the most important skills.
I believe that when working with people you must be empathetic and understand where
they are coming from. 2. I believe communication is important because
miscommunication can cause harm, damage, and other implications in the workfield. 3.

3. Discuss a time you acted professionally.
I was a receptionist and I had a patient yelling at me because they were tired of waiting
for their appointment. I had told him I cant let the doctor see you sooner as it is not fair
to the other patients. He continued yelling at me and instad of yelling back at him I told
him I calmy explained to him why I coulnt move him up the list. At the end i said if hed
like he could speak to the manager but there is nothing else I can about this. I believe I
acted professionally by not yelling or being rude back at this patient.
You are a customer. You are shopping at the pharmacy and see a young mother with her baby
steal formula and walk out of the store. She seems well dressed and healthy. It doesn’t seem
like anyone else in the store noticed this happening.
Questions
1. What do you do?
I would approach the mother in a non-judgmental manner and ask her if she payed for
that. She may have payed for it as I don’t have all the facts. If she says yes and shows me
the receipt then there is no concern. However if she says no, I would offer to pay it for
her as it is baby formula, a necessity for her baby. If she says no to me offering to her I
would tell her that you cannot steal anything and if she tries to runaway then I would
tell the manager of the pharmacy.
2. What are the ethical, legal, and psychological implications of your decision?
Legally, my answer would be with the law. Stealing is against the law and no one should
be allowed to steal anything. Psychologically the mother might be upset if I have to
report her behaviour when all she is doing is trying to feed her baby.
, 3. Would your answer change if you were told this was the only time the mother did this?
No my answer would not change. I would first try my best to offer and pay for it so she
doesn’t have to face any legal problems because of her actions.
Consider the following quote: “To say nothing is to say something.” – Germany Kent
Questions
1. What does this quote mean to you?
To me this quote mean that if you do nothing about a situation, this is saying something
about who you are, what you stand for, etc.
How is this quote relevant to the Black Lives Matter Movement?
If, as a community, we do not stand up for black people’s lives, then we are technically
saying that we don’t care about the black people in our community and they are not
worthy of the rights that white people have. If we do not fight for the justice of black
people, we are saying that black people don’t deserve justice, rights, etc.
Discuss a time where you were an advocate
In university I was a member of the mental health society (club) in my school. I
collaborated with other members and students to spread awareness about mental
health awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness. I advocated for
mental health awareness on campus and outside of campus.

mentions that your friend hasn’t been looking so good lately.

after several calls then I would go and visit them in their dorm to ensure they are okay.
