Introduction of Management:
Management is the art of getting things done through people, efficiently and effectively
by planning, organising, leading and controlling resources to achieve organizational
goals.
Management is like bridge between goals and achievements--- it ensures that the right
things are done, in the right way, by the right people, at the right time.
It is both a science and an art of managing people and processes to create value and
accomplish objectives.
Management means making the best use of available resources--- human, material, and
financial --- to accomplish desired results.
Principles of Management by Henri Fayol:
Henri Fayol, known as the Father of General Management, gave 14 principles of management
to guide managers in running organizations successfully.
1. Division of work
Work should be divided into smaller tasks and assigned to different people to improve
efficiency and productivity.
Example: In a factory, one worker does cutting, another assembles, and another packs the
product.
2. Authority and Responsibility
Managers have the authority to give orders, but they must also take responsibility for the
outcomes.
Example: A manager can assign tasks but is also responsible if the task is not done properly.
3. Discipline
Everyone in the organization must follow rules and respect agreements.
Example: Coming to work on time, wearing proper uniform.
