Preparing for postgraduate exams in dentistry requires an enormous
degree of organisation and determination. Foremost is the challenge of
maintaining a balance between preparing for exams and holding down
a full-time clinical post. The pressures of work in dentistry and related

of the questions in the text indicate to the candidates the breadth and
depth of knowledge that will be expected for success in the exams.
Where relevant, references have geen provided for further reading. Not
every topic will be covered, as this will require further texts, but the range
