, GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Concept of Development and Growth:-
Development: - Development is the process of quantitative and qualitative
growth of child. Therefore, development may be defined as a progressive
series of behavior. The word development indicates the changes related to
growth and moves towards the maturity. In other word development can
be described as a growth in physical, mental and emotional state of
individual.
According to the E Hurlock “Development is not limited to the growing
layer instead it consists of a progressive series of changes toward the
goal of maturity”.
According to Heinz Werner “Development consists of two process
integration and differentiation”.
Growth: - Growth refers to the quantitative changes in the size which
include physical changes in height, weight ,size, shape, internal organs
etc. As an individual develops old features like baby teeth, hair etc.
disappears and the new features like mature teeth and facial hair
acquired.
Difference between Growth and Development: -
GROWTH DEVELOPMENT
Growth refers to the increase in Development referred to the
size or other bodily changes outcome of functioning of organs
which can be seen
Growth is external in nature Development is internal in nature
and we can feel it
Growth referred to a particular Development employees on the
part of the body body as a whole
Growth is a quantitative in nature Development is both quantitative
and qualitative in nature
Growth is limited and stop at a Development is a life long process
certain level of maturity from the womb to the death
