, INTRODUCTION
Pregnancy refers to the period during which a fertilized ovum develops into a fetus within the
uterus, culminating in childbirth. It generally spans about forty weeks from the first day of last
menstrual period, divided into three trimesters. The trimesters are frequently accompanied with
physical, physiological, anatomical, and psychological changes aimed at fulfilling the growing
demands of the fetus.

A case study is a detailed investigation into a phenomenon in its real-life setting. A midwifery
case study tries to follow up on pregnant women from the time of first contact until six weeks
after delivery, discovering any abnormalities and complications and managing them effectively to
ensure the delivery of a healthy baby as well as welfare of the mother.

CRITERIA OF CLIENT SELECTION
i. The client should be within her 2nd trimester.

ii. The client should be able to speak either English or Kiswahili.

iii. The client should be a high-risk patient.

iv. Should be within the region during the case study period.

AIMS OF THE STUDY
The aims of this case study are;

1. To improve patient-centered care
2. To identify and address any problem or complication that may occur during pregnancy
3. To provide adequate health information that ensures a healthy pregnancy
4. To ensure that both the mother and fetus are in good health
