After the catheters and guidewires are removed at the end of the procedure, direct
pressure must be applied for 15 minutes. A pressure dressing is then placed over the
site for several hours. From Slides
• Continuous cardiac monitoring, oxygen saturation
• Check to ensure pulses are equal, extremity color and warmth are the same
• Insertion site will be covered with pressure bandage, assess for bleeding or hematoma
– do not remove bandage to assess
, • Extremities must remain straight for 4-8 hours (if femoral cath was done pt must lie flat)
