MASTERY
The Listening module is the first section of the IELTS test. The audio is played
only once, so you must listen carefully. You will receive both a question paper and
an answer sheet. While listening, you write your answers on the question paper.
After the recording ends, you will have 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the
answer sheet. The entire Listening test takes approximately 30 minutes.

Picking from a List
This is a version of MCQ . There are three types of multiple-choice
questions in the IELTS Listening Exam:
1. Where there is one possible answer (These are sometimes
pictured multiple-choice)
2. Where there are multiple answers for only one mark
3. Where there are multiple answers and one mark for each
For these questions, you may be given the start of a sentence which you
have to complete with one out of four or more choices. Or you may be
presented with a question and asked to find two, three, or four items in a
list of answers.

How to do Multiple Choice Questions:
📜 Read the instructions carefully and check how many letters you need to
circle.
📋 Skim the questions and the answer choices quickly before the recording
starts and during the 30 seconds given.
✍️ Underline the keywords — the words that give you the most information,
such as WH-words and nouns.
📋 Predict the content from the vocabulary of the questions and/or pictures.
📋 Convert pictures into words and look for details that are different in the
options.
📋 Decide the type of information you need to listen out for.
📋 Listen to the introduction given carefully.
