1) If I could travel anywhere, I would go to… ( characters)
Kerala, India. This is where both my parents were born and where my
grandparents live. I have only previously gone to India in 2015 and would love to go
again. The state of Kerala is the tourist center of India and is full of beautiful beaches,
picturesque palm trees and scenic waterfalls. On the way back from India, I would like to
stop in Rome and go to the Vatican. For Catholics like me, Rome has profound historical
and religious significance as it not only holds the tombs of famous saints but also seats
the head of the church. If this trip were possible it would mix together two things I
consider very important: my family and my faith.
2) The most interesting fact I ever learned from research was… ( characters)
The fact that 77% of companies are currently using or are planning on
incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) to their business. This information correlates
with the fact that the global market for AI has risen rapidly, with revenues going from
just over $1.5 billion in 2018 to a projected $31+ billion by 2025 (Statista). The 1900%
increase shows simply how vital and common this aspect of technology is becoming. The
unprecedented increase of AI caught my interest after it repeatedly made global
headlines. I was able to watch just how quickly AI was incorporated in the average
person’s life and believe it will soon be indispensable.
3) In addition to my major, my academic interests include… (
characters)
The Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) field of business. I was introduced first to
the field of business after I began reading the Wall Street Journal during the pandemic. It
was after reading this newspaper for the first time that I realized just how large the field
of business was and how much there was for me yet to learn. While the business jargon
used in the paper was confusing at first, over time reading this financial paper generated
an interest in learning more about the field. I plan on applying to the Smith School of
Business for an MBA in M&A on completion of my undergraduate degree in Electrical
Engineering at UMD.
4) My favorite thing about last Thursday was… ( characters)
Watching the Washington Capitals play ice hockey. Ice hockey is one of my
favorite sports to watch and I have been an avid Capitals fan since I was 10. I watched
the Capitals lift the Stanley Cup, the highest trophy in hockey, winning four games out of
five in the Stanley Cup finals in 2018. Watching the game with my father, who
introduced it to me more than seven years ago, is the ideal Friday evening for me. This
specific game featured the Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin scoring yet another goal
