01.01: Understanding Anatomy & Physiology
As you prepare for your module 1 DBA, you should be able to do the following:
● Contrast the study of Anatomy with the study of Physiology. Anatomy: This means "a cutting up,"
examines the structures of the body. Ex: organs, bones, tissues, muscles, and blood vessels. Physiology:
This means “relationship to nature”, and studies the functions of those body parts, what they do, and how
they do it.
● Identify the different roles of anatomists & physiologists.
○ Provide some examples of how they might analyze different organs. An anatomist might analyze
the skin by identifying the layers and cells that make up the skin and their location. A physiologist
might analyze the muscles by identifying the locations of the muscles and what bones they are
attached to.

01.02: Anatomy Basics
As you prepare for your module 1 DBA, you should be able to do the following:
● Define axial and appendicular. Axial refers to the body's head, neck, and trunk, with the trunk also known
as the torso. The prefix "ax-" means "axis," which is an imaginary line running through the center of an
