Risk for factors for DVT or PE i. History of DVT ii. Obesity iii. Women on birth control iv. Smoking v. Immobility 1. Short periods – sitting for prolonged times vi. Post-operative b. DVT 3. OB i. Ambulate as soon as possible c. Develop chest pain i. Related to PE or MI 1. Test to determine a. ECG b. D-Dimer – indicate PE c. Cardiac biomarkers – indicate MI a. More than 5 contractions in 10 minutes – uterine tachysystole b. Late deceleration – c. POISON i. Reposition patient to left side ii. Oxygen – non-rebreather at 100% iii. IV fluids iv. Stop Pitocin v. O vi. Notify physician 4. Acute kidney injury/kidney stones a. Monitor urine output i. Lasix b. Monitor electrolytes
