Pain An unpleasant sensory and emotional

Referred pain Pain that is present in an area removed or distant from
its point of origin.
Acute somatic pain Acetaminophen, Corticosteroids, NSAIDS, Opiates, Local
responds best to: anesthetics, Ice, Massage
Acute visceral pain Most responsive to opiates. May also use
responds to: corticosteroids and NSAIDS.
Analgesics Drugs that relieve pain without causing loss of

central pain, phantom limb pain)
