NRS 410V Nursing Process: Approach to Care Pathophysiology and Nursing Management of Client’s Health
Nursing Process: Approach to Care Grand Canyon University Pathophysiology and Nursing Management of Client’s Health Nursing Process: Approach to Care Contemporary nursing practice is based on nursing process, which is systematic method of critical thinking used by professional nurses to develop individualized plans of care and provide care for patients. Nursing process has five primary steps: assessment, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Effective use off the nursing process depends on a nurse’s knowledge, familiarity with standardized nursing diagnoses terminology, evidence-based practice, and ability to evaluate patient responses to interventions. In this paper, author will describe diagnoses and staging of cancer, discuss factors contributing to mortality rates, and explain how nursing process is utilized to provide safe and effective care for cancer patients. Diagnosis and staging of cancer Based on research, cancer patients develop systems that are not related to cancer. It is up to the nurse to perform other medical examinations to diagnose a client who has carcinogenic cells. This is the assessment process which involves getting the family and medical family history before performing the medical tests. Several tests can be carried out to diagnose cancer, including lab tests, imaging tests, and biopsy. Lab tests are used to test the composition of substances in the body which detect cancer existence. Imaging tests are used to observe the presence of tumors in areas of the body, which are suspected of containing carcinogenic cells. Some of the imaging tests include CT scans, nuclear scans, MRIs, and ultrasound. Biopsy, the most important method of diagnosis, is the removal of sample tissue and running tests to come up with a pathology report of whether the cell has cancer. Once cancer is diagnosed, the nurse carries out some procedures to determine the grade and the risk group of cancer, which is called staging. Staging is an essential process that determines the best treatment and clinical trials that can be used for the patient and also examine the seriousness of cancer (Nam, 2010). The stage is determined using the TNM staging system, which shows the location of the tumor in the body, cells attack, the spread of cancer, tumor grade, and the extent of the spread to the lymph nodes. Cancer complications There are three major complications related to cancer, including the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH), spinal cord compression, and anaphylactic reaction. SIADH is whereby the tumor produces ectopic AVP after t
