Instructions:
Complete the HIE evaluation checklist below to guide you in answering the three sections on
this worksheet.
The HIE evaluation checklist will be used to assess the feasibility of PHMS' contributing to a
community health information exchange (CHIE). The checklist has multiple components and
questions to help you assess the feasibility of CHIE participation. Additionally, you will need
to consider how your assessment will relate to the HIT strategy for the Paducah Health
Medical System.
Research the Kentucky Health Information Exchange (KHIE) as a model for the CHIE.
Information for the KHIE can be found at the KHIE website (linked in the course).
Use the HIE evaluation checklist to organize all the information you need to respond to the
questions found on this worksheet.
For each question or consideration on the HIE evaluation checklist, do the following:
• Determine whether the listed criteria are under consideration.
• Determine whether there will be a good fit between the CHIE and PHMS. As you
determine whether CHIE is a good fit for PHMS, consider the mission, vision, and
values of PHMS, as well as the plans and strategies formulated in the HIT
recommendation and the EHRS assessment.
