, Understanding Literary Genres: Prose, Poetry, Drama

● Understanding genre is not something simple or shallow, and literature is never written
without purpose.
● The genre of literature encompasses the various types found within its three main
divisions: prose, poetry, and drama.
● Each division of literature has its genres to help us better understand and identify the
different types of literary works.

II. NON-FICTION PROSE

~ Opposite of fiction, this is no longer made up or imagined by the writer, but is based on
real events and facts.
