Client Demographic Information
Name: Amella Abraham
Age: 16
Ethnicity: African American
Marital Status: Not Applicable.
Presenting Issue(s)
Amella faces various serious issues that are currently affecting her ability to focus on her
school work and living an everyday life. She feels socially rejected, with direct impact from her
family and schoolmates. She is often seen as an outsider and with weird behavior, which has led
to her being bullied and isolated. She is currently engaged in drug use behaviors- vaping at
school and at home. She admits that she does this to relieve her stress, numb her emotional pain,
and reduce her anger because she feels good when she vapes. Currently, she has difficulty
concentrating in class and even fails to complete her assignments despite previously loving her
studies. She is also nicotine-dependent and cannot go for a few hours without vaping. She is also
currently addicted to gaming and spends a lot of time playing games up to the middle of the
night, leading to her not being able to focus and being confused during the day because she is
constantly tired.
Amella is seeking treatment after the school counselor recommended treatment following
a vaping incident. Her parents are not supportive and often recommend a religious approach
compared to therapy. Amella has struggled with gender dysmorphia and rejection since she was
3 years old. Vaping and bullying started in late childhood and continued through to teenagers.
