Summary & Key Points
1. Introduction to Newton’s Laws of
Motion
Sir Isaac Newton (1643–1727), one of the greatest scientists in history,
introduced three fundamental laws of motion in his famous book
Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (1687). These laws
describe the relationship between the motion of an object and the forces
acting upon it.
Newton’s Laws are considered the foundation of classical mechanics and
are still widely used in physics, engineering, robotics, aerospace, and
everyday life.
2. Newton’s First Law of Motion (Law of
Inertia)
Explanation:
An object will remain at rest, or continue to move in a straight line at
constant speed, unless acted upon by an external force.
