Alzheimer's is a neurological disease, the most generic form of dementia. It is a
progressive illness which leads to the gradual loss of memory, thinking skills and mental
abilities. This condition is most common in the elder age group and affects those who are
65 and above. Getting a diagnosis can be quite difficult as its progressive disease
symptoms only show during late stages. Additionally, Alzheimer's is a result of healthy
neurons in the brain not functioning as they did before. Alzheimer's affects the brain and
the nervous system. It is affected by causing neurons to stop their functions, as it causes
them to die and damage their connection with other neurons, which disrupts their network.
First, this tends to affect the brain part, which involves memory such as the hippocampus,
and as the disease progresses, it affects the cerebral cortex, such as language and
reasoning.

Ways in which Alzheimer's can cause inherited traits is by causing early –onset disease
and genetic mutations. Early onset Alzheimer's is caused by an autosomal dominant patter
by only one altered gene as its strong enough to cause the disorder. Unlike Alzheimer's
onset dementia affects those who are under 65 and usually starts around the age of 30
which is around the middle age stage. Ways in which Alzheimer's can be impacted by
lifestyle choices such as overly or chronically smoking and drinking as the smoke from
cigars can cause inflammation and stress to brain cells and alcohol causes shrinking to
accelerate or atrophy to the brain. It is believed that good diets can lead to efficient
studying due to healthy diets. In the other diets which are not very nutritious have been
linked to oxidative stress and inflammation. Another way diet can cause Alzheimer's is by
causing the brain to age faster due to obesity or cardiovascular disease. Finally, ways in
which environment can cause Alzheimer's as its believed air pollution can be a contribute
to it and other long-term conditions. This is as traffic contributes to the illness as the small
particles form traffic fume are believed to be bad for your health.

Observational signs which would signify Alzheimer's would be cognitive problems which
would affect language and communication and misunderstanding what they are being
shown as well as walking around. Firstly, language and communication are an early sign
of Alzheimer's, and it demonstrated on people with the disorder by them struggling to
have long and insightful conversations as they will struggle to follow up their conversation
or find the right word to use in it. Secondly, confusion such as not understanding what
they are being shown is an early sign of Alzheimer's. This signifies that people with
disorder will struggle with things such as problem solving such as judging the distance of

,stairs. Finally, a later sign of Alzheimer's is being confused which will show itself by the
person with the disorder walking around either at home or outside during day or night
times

Symptoms which are only exclusive to individuals with Alzheimer depend on the stages
as it is a progressive disorder. Firstly, in the initial stages of Alzheimer's a symptom
developed could be becoming less flexible and hesitant to try new things. This a sign of
apathy which is defined as the loss of motivation or drive. This happens as it is a response
to the difficulties living with dementia which happens gradually. Secondly a symptom
which could happen during the middle stage of Alzheimer's would be aphasia. Aphasia is
defines as having difficulty with language or speech which include reading, listening,
speaking, and typing or writing. This is causes by nerve cells being damaged or dying in
parts of the brain which control speech and language. Finally, a symptom which will be
developed in late stages of Alzheimer's would be difficulty swallowing or eating. This is
known as dysphagia. Although it could be caused by other health condition it causes
coughing or chocking and bringing food back up.

Firstly, asthma only has an effect in the respiratory system more specifically the lung and
its airways. This is caused by inflammation to airways known as bronchial tubes. Allergens
and irritants such as traffic fumes or strong perfumes could cause this. Parts affected are
nose, mouth, lungs, and voice box. Firstly, asthma affects the lungs by swelling in airways,
tightening of muscles, extra mucous and gas exchange. This is as airways inflammation
causes restricted breathing as airways are caused to react by becoming constricted which
may lead to mucous being stuck on your airways. This causes difficulty breathing which
leads to coughing, wheezing and asthma exacerbations. Other parts of the respiratory
system affected by asthma include: the trachea, larynx, pharynx, mouth, and nose. The
trachea, larynx and pharynx are all impacted the same way by inflammation caused by
asthma leading to breathing difficulties although the affects vary. Firstly, inflammation
affects the trachea and mouth by causing difficulty breathing and medicine may cause a
dry mouth as one of the side effects. Secondly it affects the larynx known as the voice
box by experiencing vocal dysfunction from coughing and wheezing. Finally affects the
pharynx known as the throat by making it feel itchy due to coughing more than usual.

Immediate effects of asthma include shortness of breath, tightness of chest and frequent
coughing. This are caused by inflammation due to things such as irritants and allergens.
These include perfumes, pollen, and traffic fumes. This could be caused by Enviromint
such as someone's location having excessive amounts of traffic or living in an area with a
lot of greenery or could be caused by lifestyle choices such as chronic smoking.

,Long term effects of asthma include damage to lungs such lung remodelling. This is likely
to affect if the disorder is left untreated. This is caused by scaring of the lungs leading to
frequent flare ups making prescribed medication less effective. Additionally, it increases
the risk of getting GERD known as gastroesophageal reflux disease. This is caused by the
oesophageal sphincter or the stomachs entrance to be opened which causes stomach
acid to go to the oesophagus. In the long-term this could affect your lungs and airways.

Alzheimer's is a cognitive disorder which specifically impacts the nervous system and the
digestive system. Firstly, Alzheimer's affects the brain and nervous system by it causing
the brain to shrink Longterm which will cause changes physically, cognitively, and
emotionally. Firstly, Alzheimer's affects physical abilities by affecting the ability to have
good coordination and mobility which impacts daily tasks such as bathing. Secondly, it
affects an individual cognitively by making it difficult to decision make or carry out
conversations. Finally, it affects an individual emotionally by making the individual become
more solitary and less likely to be drawn to conversation or social life as they as they lose
interest in hobbies. Alzheimer's affects the digestive system by changes in bowel
movements and continence. This happens due to signals between the bladder and the
brain is no longer effective, not being able to get to the toilet fast enough due to mobility
or communication may be difficult. This is caused by parts of the brain with are most
impacted by Alzheimer's are for communication and memory and thinking.

Immediate effects of Alzheimer's are misplacing items and forgetting the names of things
as well as having trouble on identifying well known objects. This is specifically caused by
the changes Alzheimer's causes to the brain. This causes difficulty thinking of things which
may be abstract such as tasks which involve numbers. Additionally, Alzheimer's caused
the decline in making decisions or having judgements for things such as not reacting or
knowing how to react to a hot item.

Long term effects of Alzheimer's are brain damage and loss of communication and
independence. Firstly, brain damage is cause by chemical changes as microtubules stick
to molecules, they eventually form triangles inside of neurons which block the neurons
Transportaion system. Additionally, this causes negative impacts to the synaptic system.
Finally, loss of communication causes individuals to get confused about language as
someone may speak to them on their second language which they are fluent in they will
on remember the first one. This is caused by damage to the brain which controls language
and communication known as the Broca's area.

Similarities in changes in asthma and diabetes

, D1-

Physical similarities between both disorders which are common are inflammation an
impact on physical mobility. Firstly, inflammation for asthma is caused by inhaling irritants
which cause airways to narrow and swell up whereas in Alzheimer's inflammation is
caused in the brain which leads to cognitive decline in the Longterm. Secondly a similarity
for both disorders is physical decline. Such as asthma limits the amount of physical activity,
they can do whereas Alzheimer's causes the loss of coordination and mobility which
impacts activities which are a part of daily routine. finally, uncommon similarity is the
impact of quality of life. This is as asthma can lead to discomfort from physical activities
or asthma attacks and Alzheimer's affects individual's cognitive abilities impacting quality
of life for both caregivers and the individual.

Intellectual similarities between both disorders are the mount of monitoring and
management and the role of environmental factors. Firstly, to properly monitor or maintain
the disorders it involves taking medication, lifestyle changes and constant maintenance
such as regular checkups. Secondly fir both the illnesses the environment plays a part
such as such as allergens and pollutants can cause asthma to worsen over time whereas
for Alzheimer's. Physical activity and dire can impact the disorder. Finally. An uncommon
similarity between both disorders is oxidative stress that leads to damage and as a
response they cause antioxidant defence. The damage is caused in airways for asthma
whereas for Alzheimer's it caused in neurons within the brain.

Emotional similarities between both the diseases are chronic stress and fear. Chronic
stress can be caused due to an individual with asthma having to constantly check and
monitor their disorder whereas for Alzheimer's this can affect give this specifically the
individual's family as the individual need constant support and monitoring such as helping
them with daily tasks, uncertainty can be caused. This could be for reasons such as
asthma attacks being very prevalent especially for those who have bad asthma. Whereas
for dementia fairness certainty can be caused by. The progress of the disorder and it
being on its last stages or later stages. Similarity between a small and Alzheimer's can be
a solitude and being withdrawn from social Activities. For both illnesses, they may feel
embarrassment. Such As for us more if they end up having an asthma attack in public,
whereas for Alzheimer's as their condition worsens, they may withdraw themselves from
family and friends for things such as forgetting the name of certain items.

, Social similarities between both the Disorders are the dependency of others and with
drawing of social events or activities. Four out signers as the condition progresses.
Individuals are more likely to become dependent on others for things such as
appointments and medication and daily care needs. Whereas in the other hand,
Individuals with asthma will need specific care during flare ups or asthma attacks for
medical intervention. Asthmatics during social activities which involve irritants of
pollutants such as smoking or drinking are likely to withdraw themselves from those
situations. Whereas those with Alzheimer's are likely to be withdrawn from meaningful
conversations or social gatherings as they will struggle to keep up with conversations as
the level of communication decreases as their disorder progresses. An example could be
individuals with Alzheimer's will struggle to add to a conversation or make judgements.

To conclude both disorders affect individuals holistically, meaning It is likely to have
similarities between both disorders. In the other I believe service users will be most
impacted by both disorders. Physically. Intellectually and emotionally. I believe there will
not be any positive effect towards those who have Alzheimer's. In the other hand, for those
who have asked more. Having the disorder could impact their physical health as they are
likely to prioritise it, such as having exercised and eating foods which will benefit their
health.
