, UREA CYCLE(KREBS- HENSELEIT CYCLE)
• The urea cycle ( as Ornithine is the first metabolic member
of the reactions so it also known as the ornithine cycle) is a
cycle of biochemical reactions that produces urea (NH2)2CO
from ammonia (NH3).
• The mitochondria of hepatocytes converted ammonia to
urea.
• In terrestrial vertebrates the excess ammonia is converted
into urea & then excreted. Such organisms are referred to as
Ureotelic.
• Urea is the end product of Protein catabolism.
