Wanted to get rid of corruption that Maximo Camacho left.
He ordered all public officials to make public their financial holdings.
Gave women right to vote in 1953
Economy was doing pretty well and industries boomed.
Advocates for improving woeking-class life and their diet and affordable prices for food.
During this time population grew to 30 million. And theirs relative stability with jobs and green
revolution. (Green evolution brought new technologies for farming such as fertilizers, hybrid
seed. insecticides. Expanded agriculture and cheaper grain prices)
Although new jobs were coming, people could not get jobs bc they required skills and people
from the countryside were coming to the cities without these skills.

Won 90% of votes (shows how rigged election was--part of the PRI party).
Wanted to do social reforms--thought idustrialization was not helping--he still uses force on
people who opposed him.
