1.Informatics Nurse Specialist - An RN with formal, graduate education in the
field of informatics or a related field and is considered a specialist in the field of
nursing informatics.
2.Foundation of Knowledge model - The basis for which knowledge is used to
meet the needs of the healthcare delivery system.It is derived from its 3 key
elements of knowledge acquisition, knowledge processing and knowledge
dissemination
3.knowledge - The awareness and understanding of a set of information and
ways that information can be made useful to support a specific task or arrive at
a decision; abounds with others' thoughts and information. Information that is
synthesized so that relationships are identified and formalized. Understanding
that comes through a process of interaction or experience with the world
around us. Information that has judgment applied to it or meaning extracted
from it. Processed information that helps to clarify or explain some portion of
our environment or world that we can use as a basis for action or upon which
we can act. Internal process of thinking or cognition. External process of testing,
senses, observation, and interacting.
4.knowledge workers - Those who work with information and generate
information and knowledge as a product.
5.wisdom - Knowledge applied in a practical way or translated into actions; the
use of knowledge and experience to heighten common sense and insight so as
to exercise sound judgment in practical matters. Sometimes thought of as the
highest form of common sense, resulting from accumulated knowledge or
erudition (deep, thorough learning) or enlightenment (education that results in
understanding and the dissemination of knowledge).
6.computer science - the study of storage/memory, conversions and
transformation, and transfer or transmission of informations in machines
(computers), through both algorithms and practical implementation problems.

an information processing perspective
8.cognitive informatics - field of study that includes disciplines of neuroscience,
linguistics, artificial intelligence and psychology who investigate human
information-processing
9.Information Science - the study of the application and usage of information
and knowledge in organizations. also includes the study of the interaction
between people, organizations and information science.
10.Transparent wisdom - applying knowledge in a practical way or applying
knowledge to a situation without conscious thought
11.Transparency - allows users to accomplish tasks with their knowledge while
the tools housing the information disappear into the background
12.longevity - usable beyond the immediate clinical encounter. long term value.
13.discernment - the ability to critique and evaluate informaiton
14.Accessibility - ease of accessing the information and knowledge needed to
deliver care or manage a health service. the extent to which a system is usable
by as many users as possible
15.Usability - the ease of which people can use an interface to achieve a
particular goal
16.Portability - ability to be transported easily
17.Interoperability - the ability to share information across organizations
