The following ASSESSMENT CRITERIA will be used for the allocation of marks:
Identification and understanding of relevant legal and theoretical issues
Evidence of analysis and critical thinking in relation to the issues
Quality and thoroughness of research
Structure and written expression
Appropriate referencing, including compliance with AGLC
Conformity with page length and formatting specifications
Note: The assessment criteria are not equally weighted.

QUESTION
In Prothonotary of the Supreme Court (NSW) v Montenegro [2015] NSWCA 409 (‘Montenegro’),
the Court stated: ‘Qualities of honesty and integrity and a preparedness to comply with the law are essential
requirements for being a fit and proper person.’ [66]
Identify and critically analyse the reasons that these qualities are considered essential for admission to the
legal profession.
In your answer you must include specific reference to relevant legislation, at least 2 cases (in addition to
Montenegro) and 2 appropriate, scholarly secondary sources.
