It looks like Annabelle has a very complicated medical history. Can
you tell me a little bit more about that?
So, Annabelle’s medical history consists of the diagnosis of
propionic acidemia, where she was born healthy. We didn’t know
anything was wrong. And then, right after birth, she was very
lethargic. And so we took her into the hospital because she was
not waking up to eat. And we found out very quickly that her
ammonia levels were extremely high, dangerously high, to the
point of brain damage. And so they had to perform emergency
, dialysis on her, around three days old. And once they got her
stabilized, they then transported her to [facility muted for
con dentiality], which specializes in these types of metabolic
disorders, once they gured out what type of medical disorder she
had. And from there we spent about two weeks in the NICU, got a
G-tube placed to help better manage her diagnosis. And then, to
help better manage her disorder we, at ten months old, we got a
liver transplant done for her, to help not cure her disorder, but
better manage it from that point on. But otherwise she has
maintained pretty good stability since her liver transplant. But
there is a lot of daily management still, with medication and diet
management.

Have there been any recent changes to her medical history?
Annabelle has not had any new or recent diagnoses in the last
couple of years. She has been fairly stable, other than the apraxia
of speech diagnosis that was given to her by her speech therapist
in the last year or so.

Have you noticed any problems with Annabelle’s vision?
Annabelle does not have any vision problems that we are aware of.

Have you noticed any problems with Annabelle’s hearing?
Annabelle doesn’t have any hearing di culties that we are aware
of. We did have her hearing tested just to rule out any issues with
speech. We were able to rule out any moderate to severe hearing
di culties, but she hasn’t ever cooperated in the booth setting. So,
we are unable to determine if she has any mild hearing loss. But
from our parent point of view, we don’t think she has any
di culties at all.
