discipline.
● Florence Nightingale is considered the founder of modern nursing.
● Today, nurses play multiple roles: caregiver, advocate, educator, researcher, and leader.

The Nursing Process
This is a systematic, patient-centered approach used worldwide in nursing practice. It has five
steps:
1. Assessment – Collecting data about the patient (vital signs, medical history,
observations).
2. Diagnosis – Identifying health problems based on assessment findings.
