Community Teaching Plan: Teaching Experience Paper
Community Teaching Plan: Teaching Experience Paper
Introduction
The department of control disease center (CDC) estimates that STDs are among the
leading infectious diseases mostly affecting a population of the age between k15-50 years. The
rate of reporting to theoccurrence of such cases ranges up to 80% whereby the remaining 50%
cases go unreported. This document entails a teaching experience in a targeted population that
requires education on STDs protection and control. In this paper, I have disclosed the summary
of the teaching plan, epidemiological rationale of teaching for STDs, teaching experience

evaluation and the responses from the group. I will also discuss the weaknesses and the strengths
relating to the teaching process.
Summary of the teaching
The group of scholars was involved in educational need assessment on the STDs spread,
prevention and control among the members of the community with an aim of promoting health
and disease prevention in the region. The educator will make use of PowerPoint presentation
along with a question and answer session throughout the detaching process. As a healthcare
educator, I have to ensure that I am available for one-on-one discussion with the group members
to deal with any question they might be having.
I presented a complete proposal and an outline for the teaching. The instructor reviewed
my documents to discuss the information entailed concerning strengths and weaknesses of the
process. The instructor finally granted permission to proceed with the detailed presentation on
STDs to the community group after an intense and careful evaluation of the proposal.
Epidemiological rationale
The sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are among the leading infectious diseases
across the globe. The diseases are highly concentrated among the population between the age of
15 and 50 years and the infants. It is only 25% of the adolescents and the young adults who are
between the age of 15 and 24 are sexually active (Weinstock, Berman, & Cates, 2004).
The survey indicates that only 50% to 80% of the STDs are reported in the United State
with the rest remaining unnoticed (Weinstock, Berman, & Cates, 2004). This is an indication of
