Level 3 Animal Training Programme Template
Unit: Animal Training)
Student Name: *****
Animal Species: Lagomorph (rabbit)
Individual Animal: Sammy
Sex: Female
Age: 4
Current Behaviour: Foraging, Thumping, Grooming, walking,
hopping
Rabbit Temperament: relaxed, slightly distracted
Health Considerations: overly stressed, gentle handling, positive
reinforcement
1. Training Aim
The behaviour I intend to train my rabbit to perform is to come towards
me when called. This means that when I say a specific word such as the
word ‘come’, the rabbit will stop what it's doing and hop over to me. The
aim is for the rabbit to associate the sound with receiving a reward such
as a treat. This behaviour will help me build trust between me and the
rabbit, and it will also be useful for safely interacting with the rabbit in its
enclosure.
