differentiate between them.
Explain the six components of chain of infection.
Discuss factors that decrease the risk of infection in
various setting.

Introduction
Asepsis (absence of or lack of ): it means the absence
of disease causing microorganisms (pathogen).
There are two main types :
Medical asepsis ( clean technique): reduce the
number and spread of microorganisms.
Example: wearing gloves for wound care.
