White blood cells (WBC) or leukocytes are nucleated immune cells, 4,000–11,000/cu mm of blood. Classified as granulocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils) and agranulocytes (monocytes, lymphocytes), they defend via phagocytosis, chemotaxis, and immunity. Neutrophils fight microbes, eosinophils parasites, basophils allergies, monocytes macrophages, lymphocytes immunity. Disorders include leukocytosis and leukopenia.
