Colon Cancer Screenings - answer TEST that find polyps and rectal cancer:
- Flex Sig every 5 years OR
- colonoscopy every 10 years OR
- doouble- contrast barium enema every 5 years OR
- CT Colonography ( virtual ) every 5 years
Colon Cancer Screenings - other - answer Additional TESTs for detecting colorectal
cancer
-Yearly FOB
-Yearly fecal Immunochemical - FIT
- If tests are positive, colonoscopy should be done.
- multiple stool take home tests should be done, not just one in office.
Lung cancer screening - answerThe USPSTF recommends annual screening for lung
cancer with low-dose computed tomography in adults ages 55 to 80 years who have a
30 pack-year smoking history and currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.
Screening should be discontinued once a person has not smoked for 15 years or
develops a health problem that substantially limits life expectancy or the ability or
willingness to have curative lung surgery.
Lung cancer screening - answerA process of informed and shared decision making with
a clinician related to the potential benefits, limitations, and harms associated with
screening for lung cancer with LDCT should occur before any decision is made to
initiate lung cancer screening
Skin Cancer Screening - answerUSPSTF has insufficient evidence to assess benefits
and harms of skin cancer screening HOWEVER -
- limit sun exposure between 10 am - 4 pm
-use SPF 15 or higher
-whole body yearly examination
- report change in size, color, shape of mole
