Group Log 1 Assignment
Use this log to get organized and develop the groups semester collaboration plan. To
facilitate the success of all members in the group, the group should work cooperatively
and use this log to help: Establish routines, identify and assign roles, list tasks to be
completed for each project milestone, and complete a timeline to support tracking and
measuring the group’s progress.
Collaboration Commitments
This initial phase is about getting everyone on the same page and laying the groundwork
for the rest of the semester.
Tasks:
· Hold a kick-off meeting to introduce yourselves and share your time zone,
availability, and strengths.
o Flex Option: Start a text thread or WhatsApp group to do the same!
· Identify a regular weekly meeting day/time. Make sure to consider
differences in time zones and other factors to ensure all members are included:
o Agree upon a video conferencing platform to conduct your weekly
meeting.
§ Zoom (free through Ball State account)
§ Microsoft Teams Account (free through Ball State)
§ Google Meet, etc.
§ Flex Option: Discuss and divide responsibility of all tasks
through your chat group
· Determine platform for sharing files. (Google Doc, Microsoft Word, etc.):
· Discuss preferred method of communication. (text or email):
· Assign roles based on member strengths and expertise that may be helpful
to accomplishing group goals. Roles should include:
o Group facilitator: Keeps meeting going, ensure contributions of all
members are recognized and respected. Contribute to completion of submitted
assignments.

, o Instructor liaison: Communicates with instructor to address group
questions, help, or conflicts. Recommended the Instructor liaison attend your
instructors open office hours.
o Technician: Responsible for sending meeting invitations, reminders,
recording debate, and posting the debate to the appropriate discussion board.
o Researcher: Support members using the library and other internet
resources to conduct research and downloading relevant resources; Ensure
research from group members is from peer-reviewed sources and meet assignment
expectations
o Editor: Proof reading and editing assignments and Applying APA rules;
ensuring assignments are submitted correctly on time; and Illustrator (developing
tables, charts, and graphs).
