Competitive Exams
Day 1 — Assessment & Planning
Objectives
Find what you already know and what you must learn.
o Build a realistic 10-day schedule that focuses on high-yield topics.
Actionable steps
1. Take a short diagnostic: 40–60 questions or one past paper section
under timed conditions (no notes). Score and note time taken per
section
2. Break the syllabus into 8–12 topics; mark each topic as strong /
moderate / weak.
3. Allocate study time by priority: ~50–60% to weak topics, 30–40%
to moderate, 10–20% to maintenance of strong topics.
4. 4. Create a daily block schedule (see sample below).
Tools for tracking
o Simple Google Sheet or Notion page: Date | Topic | Planned mins |
Actual mins | Score | Notes.
o Time tracker (optional): Toggl, Clockify.
o Flashcards/spaced repetition: Anki or Quizlet.
Sample day (full-time ~8 hrs)
o Morning (2 hrs): review diagnostic + plan day
o Mid (4 hrs): focused study on top 2 weak topics (2 × 2-hr blocks
with breaks)
o Evening (2 hrs): light practice + create flashcards + quick recap
Quick checklist
o Diagnostic taken? ✅ Topic strengths logged? ✅ Schedule
created? ✅
