Informal = something that happened or ended a long time ago and is not
important now, or a person who is not important now, although they were in
the past
Contemporary adjetive (MODERN)
existing or happening now, and therefore seeming modern:
Synonyms = MODERN
modern, up to date, latest, cutting-edge, high-tech
Lecture 2 1
, Benedetto Croce (1866-1952): Every history is contemporary history
The historian is part of his/her time and burned with his/her problems.
research questions arise from today
human memory is the reactivation of the past based on the present (it’s not
the objective testimony of the past, it’s a construction)
No matter what historical period we are studying, history has a connection to
the present
All the more so for contemporary history, because the temporal proximity
between the past being studied and the present is even greater.
