Dear Sir,
Sub: Anomalies in Qualifying Marks of ALP Exam - Request for Uniform
Policy
Ref: DRMEVADI's Notifications dated 03.09.2024 &, 07.01.2025.
A notification to fill up 434 vacancies in the category of ALP against 50%
departmental quota was issued vide letter cited nder reference. While this notification has
been issued on par with the GDCE selection, the passing marks criteria have been fixed on
the lines of LDCE, i.e., 60% passing marks in the written test.
Despite adopting GDCE norms in eligibility and paper pattern, a condition of 60%
minimum qualifying marks with negative marking has been imposed. This is contrary to
GDCE rules where no such provision exists.
Similarly, RRC-WR Notification No. 01/2023 dated 31.07.2023 ALP/Technicians/Train
Manager & JE & 01/2021 (JB-TMC) for GDCE clearly states:
UR (40) & OBC (NCL): 30%
SC: 30%
ST:25%
It is also noteworthy that in Jabalpur Division, there was no such condition of 60%
passing marks. The result of ALP was published ,on 23.01.2025 with the following
qualifying marks (for merit and shortlisting to CBAT-Psycho Test):
UR &OBC40/100
SC-32/100
ST-30/100
Further,. the Nagpur Division notification for ALP Post dated 04.05.2024 (copy
enclosed) prescribed the following parameters:
" Part A: UR40%, SC-30%, ST- 25%
Part B: Candidates of allcommunities must secure 35% qualifying marks, but only Part
Amarks are considered for shortlisting.
Such widc variation in passing marks across divisjons Railways is highly unjustified
and has created discontent among the staff. Since all other criteria such as educational
qualification, medical fitness and eligibility are already being followed strictly as per GDCE, it
as per
is only fair that passing marks too are aligned with GDCE norms and not fixed
LDCE.
