5. Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy (MSBP): is a form of child abuse in which the abuser
fabricates an illness in a child. When the child is taken for medical care, the parent tells physicians there is no apparent
cause for the illness knowing that this will most likely result in hospitalization of the victim for tests or observation. It is during
this period of hospitalization that the actual abuse usually occurs.
