(A Romantic Hidden Identity Story)
Aanya had always believed that people online were not real — they were just
usernames, hiding behind perfect pictures and polite lies. But that belief started
to crumble the day she received a message from an unknown account named “The Silent
Pen.”
At first, it was nothing — just a line under one of her poetry posts:
“You write pain like you’ve lived a thousand lives.”
Something in those words felt… familiar. Thoughtful. Real.
Aanya replied. And that single reply turned into endless conversations — about
books, heartbreaks, late-night fears, and dreams they’d never spoken aloud.
The Silent Pen knew how to listen. He never sent selfies, never revealed his name,
and yet, somehow, he made her feel seen. Each night, they shared a little more of
their hearts — hidden behind words and glowing screens.
Weeks passed. She began waiting for his messages more than anything else.
He became her comfort, her escape, her… secret.
But one thing always bothered her — why wouldn’t he reveal who he was?
---
One night, she asked directly, “Do I know you?”
After a long pause, the reply came:
“Maybe. But if I tell you, you might stop talking to me.”
Her heartbeat quickened. Why would I stop? she typed.
He replied, “Because you’ve hated me once before.”
That line broke something inside her. Who could it be? Someone from her past?
Someone she once fought with?
For the next few days, The Silent Pen vanished. No messages. No replies.
Aanya felt emptier than ever.
---
Then came college fest day. She wasn’t in the mood to go, but her friends dragged
her along.
While passing through the literature corner, she saw Aayush — the arrogant topper
she’d always argued with in class — sitting there, reading aloud a poem.
Her breath caught.
The poem… it was hers.
Word by word, line by line — the one she had sent to The Silent Pen.
He finished reading, and when his eyes met hers, she saw it — that same quiet
softness, that same depth she’d found in every message.
“You… you’re The Silent Pen?” she whispered.
Aayush smiled faintly. “And you’re the only person who ever understood my words.”
