,Introduction
• This outcome involves management of HIV and
TB.
• This involves carrying out HIV and TB risk
assessment and diagnosis based on disease
management practices,
• providing counselling of infected and affected
patients
• management of co-infected patients with active
TB
• carrying out TB treatment based on the severity
of the disease and treatment phase
• monitoring adherence to TB treatment and HIV
treatment,
• monitoring ARV and TB drug interaction and
management and monitoring and documentation
of HIV and TB cares based on health procedure.
, Definition of Key Terms
• HIV: Also called Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a virus that can
be transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen or vaginal
fluid and interferes with the body’s ability to fight infections
• TB: Also called tuberculosis. This is a potential serious infectious
bacterial disease that mainly affects the lungs. The bacteria that
cause TB are spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
• Risk assessment: This is the identification and analyzing potential
events that may negatively impact individuals, assets and the
environment.
• Treatment: This is the medical care given to a patient for an illness or
injury.

• Definitions:
• - HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus): A virus that attacks the
immune system.
• - AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome): The final stage of
HIV infection characterized by a severely weakened immune system.
