The Trinity is a religious doctrine that explains that one God exists in three
manifestations or three persons which is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit these three make
up the concept of the Trinity Godhead. Within the Old Testament Scriptures, the exact word
trinity cannot be found although the bible, but the triune concept for the word trinity can be
found throughout all the bibles, in the first book of the bible Genesis we see God as its creator -
the Father, In the New Testament books of the gospel we see the Son, in the book of Acts to
Relation we see the Holy Spirit and Counselor. The trinitarianChristian terminology is needed as
a way for mankind to describe the triune nature and different attributes of God. Before ascending
into heaven Jesus tells his disciples “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded
you” Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV).
During the theological history, it took many arguments, controversies, and theological
debates to the development the Trinitarian theology. Trinitarianism survived many years of
deliberations from various theologians and councils and assemblies to become the divine truth
that we appreciate and accept today. Trinitarian theology truth of our Christian faith. The
doctrine began from the Patristic era to our current era, it took manytheologians and councils,
such as Justin Martyr, Augustine of Hippo, Irenaeus of Lyons, the Cappadocian Fathers, Thomas
Aquinas, Calvin, Schleiermacher, and many others debated, argued for its legitimacy and
understanding that God is three divine persons in One.
