Application of Statistics in Health Care
We use statics every day, but most of the time, it is overlooked. Statistics are used by a
variety of professionals to compare, analyze, andtally available data. Nursing using statistical
data daily. Statistics is a component of mathematics that uses compiled data.Successful statistics
can understand statistical methods and why these methods are being used and then applying them
competently in the appropriate situations (Watson et al., 2016). Statistics give us ways to deal
with facts in bulk. These facts, which are called data, may have been given to us, or we may have
gathered the facts for ourselves. Statistics help organize raw data that we start tabulating,
summarizing, and showing in diagrams to use the resulting information for planning and
decision-making (Watson et al., 2016). Evidence-based practice (EBP) is fundamental to the
foundation of nursing. EBP promotes research evidence and clinical expertise, encourages
individualization of care through inclusions and patient preferences (Stevens, 2017). Evidence-
based practice uses statistics to get research and enable the creation of new ideas and workflow.
This paper aims to describe howstatistics can be used in health care and its use in health care
specialty areas.
The Significance of Statistics
Statistics is not easy, but it can be enjoyable. Most nursing educations programs require
students to complete a statistics course. Teaching methods focusing on statistical concepts and
application in healthcare practice will help undergraduate nursing students develop critical
thinking skills combined with statistical skills to understand betterand receive any evidence
collected and data available(Otte, 2015).Statistics gives us tools to identify connections, known
as correlations, between things. It also allows us to quantify the strength of correlations and
