Hinduism and its Deities
Hinduism also known as the religion of India is the oldest living religion on earth if
there was a way to characterize their religion it would be along the lines of the Dharma the
Brahmanic Religion(Corduan2012).Since the 19th century there are 900 million members
worldwide, with the majority living in India it is said they have answered to the name Hinduism,
some have rejected it and favored the Vedic Religionsome also lean toward calling the religion
Santana dharma meaning (“eternal law”) a formulation brought about in the 19th
century(britanica.com).
To get a better understanding of the three most important pieces of the Hindu deities such
as the aspects of the overall belief systems of the Hindu people, their caste system, and the
intricate relevance of the Trimurti.Consisting of three Gods in a single form each with its own
face, each God is in control of one form of creation and holder of its own identity. The Vishnu
known as the preserver, The Shia the destroyer and most important is Brahma the
creator(bbc.org)
Brahma the creator is looked upon as being the preserver of all living things, created the
universe and is also known to be infinite(Shah2013).Brahmanism or Vedism developed in India
among the Indo-European the Vedic people were in close contact with the ancestors of the
Iranians (brittancia.com).Of the many deities of Hinduism many focus their devotion one of the
three whom they would consider supreme many of the gods have innumerable forms the majority
however worship the Shiva and Vishnu(khanacademy.org).The predominance of these three
deities evolved over several centuries well into the millennium when centering on Hinduism
made devotion popular(khanacademy.org)
