, Running head: CLIMATE CHANGE 2
Climate change refers to modification of the climate on earth that is brought about by the
interaction between the various geologic, biological, chemical and geographic factors within the
earth and the atmosphere as well as changes in the atmosphere. The environment in which pone
is living is one of the main determinants of health. This statement can be supported by the fact
that a large number of people depend on the environment for resources and energy required to
maintain life ("Climate change," 2020). These resources include safe drinking water, safe
residential areas, and non-contaminated air (clean air).A change in climate is a significant
environmental issue that is associated with numerous hazardous effects on the health of people.
Therefor in this paper am going to discuss on changes in climate as one of the policy health issue
that is associated with the environment and the effects climate changes on healthcare delivery
system in the US.
Description of Policy Health Issue
Human activities are among the contributing factors to climate change. When human
being burn fossil for fuel, sufficient amount of carbon dioxide is emitted to the atmospheres as
well as the greenhouse gases which in turn contribute to climate change (Calabrò&Magazù,
2016). Climate change can result to detrimental impacts such as rising sea levels, extreme
weather events and changes in precipitation. This changes in climate in turn affect the health of
people as it affect the food that people eat, air we breathe and the water that we drink. However,
the severity of this health risk may not every individual. Various schools of thought have put
more emphasis that the effect of changes in climate is more sever on low income earners. These
effects are felt at local, state and the national levels.
