, In the article making sense of marriage, there are two viewpoints of marriage discussed,
the first is what I call the traditional marriage between one man and one woman and then there is
the revisionist view of marriage where the traditional view has been refined by society to mean
same-sex couples or multiple sexual partners. It is this point that Girgis defends and explains the
revisionist view of marriage which a couple of men or a couple of women can have a lasting
deep emotional bond expressing their sexuality in a loving manner, where they can share their
monetary and emotional responsibilities in a common lifestyle together, this type of relationship
demonstrates that the same-sex couple has lasting value and should be treated with the same
rights and medical reimbursements of a traditional marriage. In other words, “Marriage is an
emotional and sexual companionship between partners that is deeper or more intense than a
dating relationship. The unifying good of the marriage relationship is mutual personal
fulfillment. From this perspective, marriage is all about romance, love, and mutual affection.
Marriage simply identifies a person’s “number one relationship. Besides being deeper, the
relationship is different because it has been officially recognized by the state. This is important,
from the revisionist view, because it means that the partner’s sexual relationship is now approved
by the community at large” Girgis, Anderson, George.“Marriage, from this perspective, has little
to do with procreation. Everything about a marriage (including how long it lasts, whether or not
to be sexually exclusive, among other things)everything depends on what the partners want
because the unifying good of the relationship is the subjective personal fulfillment of the
partners. Only the partners can say what ought to be the case about their marriage since their
personal fulfillment is the primary purpose of the relationship — the good towards which they
coordinate their activities” Sherif Girgis, Ryan T. Anderson, and Robert P. George.
