Ans 1. Hawaii, referred to as the 'Aloha State' symbolizes a popular getaway tourist
destination in the 'isolated' located pacific ocean, being blessed with many 'natural'
features including 'beaches', 'rainforests', 'volcanic' zones and beautiful 'high-altitude'
scenery, incorporating 'six' different islands (The Hawaii Islands 2016). The tourism in
Hawaii contributes the 'biggest' share of the local economy, welcoming more than
'214,000' tourists in a day and having generated '$1.6 billion' through tax revenue in the
year 2015 (Hawaii Tourism Authority 2016). Moreover, the Hawaii state government
(2016) states that the region received '720,997' visitors itself in January 2016, the
majority through 'North America' integrating the 'east' and 'west' coast of the United
States, along with the Canadians and 'Japan' due to its strategic location, forming the
two main target markets, who are mostly 'repetitive', independent travelers visiting one's
own 'relatives' or simply for 'vacations', indicating mainly 'families' and 'honeymooners'.
For the 'Kauai' island alone, there have been '95,042' tourists in January 2016 with a
'72%' tenancy rate, majorly '80,256' domestic and '14,786' international 'non-packaged'
travelers visiting either 'friends' and 'family' or during holidays for experiencing 'pleasure'
especially 'married-couples', who mainly accommodate in 'hotels' and 'condominiums'
during their entire stay (Hawaii Tourism Authority 2016).
Ans 2. The most appropriate type of restaurant that would be recommended to the
Blackfield Hawaii Corporation for developing inside the Coconut Plantation Resort in
Kauai will be an authentic Italian restaurant 'Aloha Italiano', which would be a
freestanding 150-200 seat unit establishment and located between the beach-sighted
hotels, condominiums and the primary highway, being easily accessible for everybody.
Since there are already existing fast-food restaurants with a few more establishments
such as 'Buzz's Steakhouse' and 'The Spindrifter' serving three meals in a day, having
limited menus with very little originality in their services and the other resort hotels
table-service establishment's food quality resembling with the Coconut Plantation Resort
hotels, the specialized 'Aloha Italiano' will be offering freshly cooked authentic Italian
cuisine with the local ingredients from Kapaa's supermarket and a broader Italian menu
dining selection including appetizers and main course with a separate beverage menu
list, providing something new within the resort and further giving an opportunity for its
customers in exploring their taste-buds. Moreover, since the condominium residents
spent little amount inside restaurants with their increasing stay-over than hotel
occupiers, the establishment will operate everyday during the early evening hours till
midnight for a few weeks, aspiring in becoming recognized as a popular evening dining
establishment.
