, SCHIZOPHRENIA OVER TIME: LIVING WITH ILLNESS 2
Abstract
Schizophrenia is one of the most disabling conditions that an individual can develop. The
characteristic symptoms involve a range of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional dysfunctions,
but no single sign is pathognomonic of the disorder (APA, 2013, p. 100). This paper will define
the requirement for a diagnosis of schizophrenia and compare the positive and negative
symptoms of two individuals. Also, this paper will explore individual treatment plans and
measures of symptoms for two individuals. To conclude, the write will identify ways cases are
typical and atypical of schizophrenia and discussed culture and background influence individual
experiences with schizophrenia.
