Ans. She tells him that Netherfield Park has been taken over by a rich
young man from the north of England. According to her it is a fine thing
for her grown up daughters.
2. Who takes over Netherfield Park? Why is Mrs Bennet happy about it?
Ans: Netherfield Park has been vacant for a long time. It is finally taken over by a
rich, young gentleman named Mr Bingley. Mrs Bennet is delighted over it as she
hopes that one of her daughters will be able to marry this rich man. She seems
determined to develop an acquaintance with him for the sake of her daughters.
3. Why does Mrs Bennet insist her husband to meet Mr Bingley?
Ans. Mrs Bennett insists her husband to meet Mr. Bingley because she wants to
develop an acquaintance with home. Since he is very rich and a handsome bachelor,
such an acquaintance will enable her to marry one of her grown up daughters to him.
4. “You take delight in vexing me, you have no compassion on my poor nerves”.
Explain.
Ans: Mrs Mrs Bennet sees Mr Bingley as a potential match for one of her daughters
and asks him to visit him as soon as possible. However, he keeps on evading her wish.
