Final Project
Your document should include: a link to your collection at Google Arts & Culture a written statement explaining your curatorial concept/theme (this should be in the document and on your Google collection page) wall text for six selected artworks (wall text for artworks 5 and 6 is only new wall text; wall text for artworks 1-4 should be copied from previous submissions) Guidelines for the written statement Overview: explains the theme (1-2 paragraphs). Overview should also explain what the viewer will learn from the gallery--what is the point of this 'exhibition'? wall texts for artworks 5-6 in the collection: each wall label is made up of 2-3 paragraphs about one of the artworks in the collection. Your wall text should incorporate the following elements: discuss how the artwork fits in the theme identify relevant information and interpretation provided by Google identify medium, identify and explain techniques used, and discuss how the artwork was made (subject of chapters 8-15) describe the artwork and discuss/analyze formal elements (subject of chapters 3-7) and identify the two most important formal elements for the artwork contextualize the artwork within art history: what style is it? what culture? historical significance? meaning/interpretation? (subject of chapters 16-20) Look up where the artist worked in order to identify the culture, and look at the time period in which the artwork was made. Based on that information, explain what art historical style was common in that time and place, and analyze if this artwork would fit that style. Use the information in chapters 16-20 and the lectures to help identify what styles were happening when. You have the option of doing additional research to support this area, but extra research is not required. Recommended research sources are collected in the final project module in the submodule called "research resources." bibliography, if you consulted any sources other than your textbook
